GOA seeks to fulfil their great vision of, ‘Making Christian Disciples of all Nations’ through 4 core values. These are: Church Growth, Compassion, Conflict resolution and Leadership Development. There is an administrative arm that operates from the GOA Head office in Nairobi, Kenya.

The following internship or voluntary opportunities exist in the various ministerial departments:

ADMINISTRATION:
All the four vision areas are coordinated from the head office in Nairobi . The office houses Accounts department that receives and processes funds to GOA Institutions and projects, HR, Video, Directors and their assistant for the vision areas, IT, Counselling and hospitality. We envision a highly qualified staff that will be able to meet the demand of this great vision.

  1. Being a 21st century organisation IT is very important. All our staff have access to a computer. Due to the developments of IT, it will be needful to continue training and doing IT support for our staff.
  2. We do video coverage for our events and our Video Manager edits them from his office which is fully equipped.
  3. Uploading documentaries to YouTube.
  4. We do the office filling in physical files for our documents. Do you think you could assist?
  5. Our staffs normally go to the projects to connect and to mentor our people on the ground.
  6. Teaching staff how to use relevant collaborative networks, such as Twitter and Facebook. It’s just a few of us who knows how to use thes important communication tool and we would like to keep a brace with all this technology. We need someone who can teach and help our staff to start using them.

COMPASSION
GOA has 8 children’s homes. These are Tumaini, Rhema, Strong Tower, Beat the Drum, Rehema, Kieni West, Merciful Redeemer and Christ Compassion. Strong tower and Christ Compassion are rehabilitation centres while Beat the Drum is for the HIV positive orphans.

  1. We periodically update profiles for kids in our children’s homes. This exercise is done by the compassion department in conjunction with the homes managements
  2. We have schools in these place which have an opportunity to touch lives by teaching different subjects in classrooms [ Tumaini, Merciful Redeemer, Maggie school]
  3. In our homes Children are helped in all aspects of lives which include the spiritual. They have bible studies and worship in homes.
  4. We could touch their lives by washing clothes and cooking for the kids
  5. As part of food sustainability programme in our children homes we encourage subsistence farming for vegetables and dairy, poultry and pig farming. We could help in the farm maybe by milking the cows, planting and weeding the crops and building the sheds for the animals.
  6. Healthy kids love playing. We give focus to this in all our homes one can spend time loving, playing with and touching kids.
  7. Two of our schools are in our children homes [Merciful Redeemer and Tumaini]. We have computer classes and interns could teach this important skill.
  8. We prepare monthly newsletters for our projects .We look forward for somebody who could help prepare and teach our people on how to prepare these monthly newsletters for our projects.
  9. In our Kinangop Region we have groups for HIV Widows. They meet for group therapy and to do income generating projects together. We attend their meetings to worship with them and to encourage them. In their income generating project we can help then as they work on their farms and in other projects. Some of the projects they do are Dairy, Poultry and horticulture.

CHURCH GROWTH
Currently GOA has over 100 churches in Kenya and the neighbouring countries. A Church Growth Director coordinates from the Head office the activities of the churches through a regional administration according to GOA administration structure.

  1. GOA church member gathers on Sunday for worship and to hear the word of God. Those gifted in preaching could preach during our Sunday worship services
  2. We give great emphasis of teaching our children how to live godly lives. We gather them for worship in relevant ways on Sunday and any other appropriate time. We also hold children conferences. People can teach and participate in organizational way during the conference.
  3. We do the same for our teens and we have a great opportunity to teach this group of young people.
  4. We believe in our youths and do so many programmes that could benefit them. We help them to know that they need to be responsible in their live. We also train them in godliness. We hold seminars, workshops and conferences for them. There is a great need to mentor these people.
  5. Cell church is the method we use to disciple and train the new believers in our churches. We follow the four ‘W’ methods. That is Welcome, Worship, Word and Witness. For every cell church to be effective we need people who can lead the cell meeting and the bible study.
  6. We have a cyber cafe in our Nyeri region for Pastors. This is an income generating programme. It is situated about 105 kilometres north of Nairobi. We need to have people to assist the customers as they access internet. For some clients it is their first time to visit the cyber yet they need to browse.
  7. Each church and region has a treasurer who handles the church and regional money. They require help with this accounting work in our churches and regions for proper book keeping and accountability.
  8. Building and construction of church buildings. GOA is in the process of building permanent churches for our congregations. This work requires both skilled and unskilled labour. You could help as an Engineer, carpenter, painter, welder etc and any other work in the construction site.
  9. The process of making Disciples for Christ starts with evangelism. Church members organise evangelism outreach through crusades, one-on-one evangelism and other methods. Christians who are ready to share the love of Christ with the lost are invited to join in the harvest field.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
We believe that for effective leadership training of leaders is key. GOA strives to make this a reality through various programmes which includes ILI, Global Impact Seminars, GEBS etc

  1. We are in the process of launching Glory Bible School [GEBS].Through this, Pastors will be developed and empowered. Teaching computer classes and other related courses is a great opportunity in our bible school.
  2. Help in administrative logistic things which would include
  3. We have an ILI programme for upcoming leaders which is called History Makers journey. The young leaders meet for one week for training in eight core values. Connecting with the History Makers—training and networking is another great opportunity.

BISHOP THAGANA'S 2013 MESSAGE OF THE YEAR

May I belatedly bring you my New Year greetings.

On the Global scene, 2012 was the year when shocking economic and
business news seemed to lose its power to shock.  Kenya withstood
another difficult year in 2012 as policy tightening and weaker global
demands slowed economic activity.  With decisive fiscal and monetary
policies, the government managed to restore confidence in Kenya.  The
year 2012 in Kenya was almost a mirror image of 2011.  In 2011 the
economy started out strongly, but by mid-year, high fuel and food
prices led to a rapid rise in inflation, a weekend exchange rate and
ultimately a radical increase in interest rates towards the end of the
year.

The implication of these economic and business trend on GOA ministries
was that we had to not only make tough stewardship decisions in 2012
but also daily prayed for God’s Grace to complete the year.  With
decisive ministry policies under the governance of an extremely well
educated and experienced GOA board of directors and a dedicated team
of staff at GOA head office in Nairobi we managed to restore
confidence in all stakeholders and continued to change lives and
impact communities.

As we head into 2013, Kenya is expected to stimulate growth by
loosening monetary policy.  The Central bank of Kenya has lowered the
Central Bank rate (CBR) over the last several months to encourage
investment and economic growth.  As a result, the second have begun
the year by seeing economic activity increase without inflationary
pressure.  The Central Bank of Kenya is expected to continue these
policies in the first quarter of 2013 with investors expected to delay
major projects while waiting for the outcome of the elections.

GOA’s theme for 2013 “To proclaim the year of the Lord’s
favour”-Jubilee Luke 4:19.  In the last three weeks I have been
blessed with opportunities training senior ministry leaders in
Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda with the eight core values of ILI/HM.  I
can boldly proclaim that GOA is out to experience great favour from
God in 2013.  This is the year that Kenya will celebrate her Golden
Jubilee-50 yrs since independence.  It is also the year that GOA’s
Executive Director is celebrating his Golden Jubilee-50th birthday.
I’m double excited.  To be a Kenyan who is celebrating Jubilee
together with his nation.

The     World Bank in their December 2012 Kenya Economic update dubbed
“Kenya at work-Energizing the economy and creating jobs” highlighted:
Kenya withstood another difficult year in 2012 as policy tightening
and weaker global demand slowed economic activity.  With decisive
fiscal and monetary policies, the government managed to restore
confidence in Kenya’s medium term prospects.  2013 promises to be a
better year.  Yet hard realities remain –Kenya’s growth rate is still
below its potential and its peers, external balances remain which
threaten its future growth, and the pace of economic growth is not
generating enough modern sector wage Jobs.  With the passage of the
new constitution in 2010 and its implementation, stronger institutions
are emerging, putting Kenya on a sound footing ready to take off.  In
the very short term, what remains to be done is for Kenya to deliver a
credible and peaceful election in March 2013, and thereafter a smooth
transfer of power.  In the medium term, Kenya will need to start
building a stronger foundation for growth, and undertake structural
reforms to correct the external imbalances.  To generate more jobs for
the burgeoning educated population, Kenya will also need to reduce the
transaction cost for firms, by reducing job-smothering corruption and
the cost of doing business (particularly in transport and energy).

In the first half, we expect the Government to keep its focus on
controlled liquidity as it seeks to keep the cost of living at
manageable levels.  We expect less easing of the monetary policy with
politics dimming the outlook with political pressure expected to
increase as the country gears up for the general elections.  We expect
the outcome of the elections to have a major impact on the economy.
Following the elections, we expect the Central Bank of Kenya to head
back to the low interest rate stance as it seeks to propel
post-election economic growth in the coming years in line with the
vision 2030 objectives.  With the Central Bank of Kenya expected to
ease monetary policy, we expect the stock market to stay on a recovery
path.  The bond market is expected to see improved activity with
concentration expected to shift to the long end.

This is the time to invest in Kenya.  GOA is looking for investors who
are interested in not only reaping good business returns but also
kingdom value through change lives in our four vision  areas of Church
Growth, compassion, conflict Resolution and leadership Development.
The focus of the GOA board of directors is to move GOA towards a
sustainable future.  With this goal in mind, GOA’s next 5 year
strategic plan has business ideas on investments that may initially
require high capital investment but eventually lead GOA towards
sustainability.  We invite you to partner with GOA in 2013.

With you in this year of our Lord’s favour

Bishop David Thagana
